To start with assessments / exam module, we first need to create masters. There are four master which need to be setup first before entering marks which is a one time exercise. They are -

  1. Assessment Type
  2. Assessment Term
  3. Key to Grading
  4. Assessment Comments
  5. Results

1. ASSESSMENT TYPE

These are the types for which you enter marks. They can be unit tests, written exams, projects, interviews etc.

2. ASSESSMENT TERM

This defines the term or duration of result calculation of any cohort. This is essential as the attendance and marks are calculated between the term start and end date.

3. KEY TO GRADING

In this we define the parameters for the final result calculation of pass and fail and resit exams. In this it is mandatory that the values are defined between 1 to 100 percent else there will be variation in the final result and resit will not appear. This also helps you to calculate the resits for the students.

From here you can even configure grades for cohorts in case you want to use the grade system instead of entering marks. This also would work if in the final result you want to display grades instead of marks even if you entered marks into the system.

4. ASSESSMENT COMMENTS / RECOMMENDATIONS

In this we define the master list of comments / recommendations which the facilitators give to students on their assessment performance. These recommendations are printed in the result letter.

4. RESULTS

In this we define the result name through which the program is linked with the key to grading.
